A Calhoun County man who has served jail time before for child abuse has been arraigned once again for alleged sexual assault.

WWMT reports that on Monday, 47-year-old Perry Coleman was charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in Calhoun County Court; he was arrested last week after authorities learned that he allegedly had been raping a 10-year-old girl over a length of time. The judge set bond at half-a-million dollars, and he remains lodged in jail.

According to the Michigan Sex Offender Registry, Coleman had been convicted in 1989 and 1995 of second degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13, and had served jail time for those offenses. Due to the prior convictions, Coleman faces up to life in prison if found guilty this time around.

A preliminary examination is in June.
