Several teens were busted Saturday morning after a police chase in Battle Creek.

Around 12:30am Saturday, Battle Creek Police Officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for reckless driving. The car instead sped off, but eventually stopped at the intersection of Oaklawn and Howland St, with the driver running on foot.

He was eventually caught.

Inside the vehicle, which was a rental, officers found 5 other people aged 15-17, marijuana, and prescription pills. A handgun was also recovered, and it was discovered to have been stolen in a Kalamazoo home invasion.

The 16-year-old driver was arrested on charges including fleeing police, drug and weapons violations, and a Kalamazoo warrant. A 17-year-old from Kalamazoo who was in the car was also arrested on drug charges, while the rest of the juveniles were released to their parents.

However, they still might receive charges in juvenile court.
