Despite losing quarterback Drew Stanton to a knee injury in the second half, the Arizona Cardinals used four Chandler Catanzaro field goals to beat the Rams, 12-6, in St. Louis on Thursday night. Provided Sunday’s Dallas-Philadelphia game does not end in a tie, Arizona (11-3) qualified for the playoffs as a result of the victory.

Neither team was able to score a touchdown, but the Cardinals got two first-half field goals from Catanzaro to take a 6-3 halftime lead. Arizona extended its advantage to 9-3 and then 12-3 before Greg Zuerlein put the Rams within a score via a 19-yard field goal with 6:07 to play.

Stanton, who took over the Cardinals’ starting job because of a knee injury suffered by Carson Palmer against St. Louis in Week 10, was injured when he was sacked by Aaron Donald with 8:41 to play in the third quarter. Third-stringer Ryan Lindley took over under center, going 4-for-10 for 30 yards for the rest of the game. Kerwynn Williams ran for 75 yards on 15 carries for Arizona.

Shaun Hill completed 20 of 39 passes for 229 yards with an interception for the Rams. St. Louis (6-8) was eliminated from playoff contention with the loss.
