Multiple agencies are actively investigating two separate instances where cats were abandoned locked in cages.

In the first instance, a female cat was found abandoned and locked in a pet carrier with five kittens on the side of Butler Road and Cupp Road in a rural area near Mendon in St. Joseph County.

In the second instance, two large male cats were found in this crate together inside of a dumpster at Bentwater Apartments in Three Rivers. Both had collars on (that were a little too tight).

The felines in both instances are all expected to be okay.
