A meeting has been scheduled in Battle Creek, for the public to discuss proposed changes to the city’s animal ordinance.

In a release, the City says that recommendations from animal service organizations spurred the need for a change in the city’s rules, to meet the needs of animals.  The proposed changes will add or modify definitions like “dangerous animal”, “service dog” and “rabies suspect animal”.   There would also be changes to the “cruelty to animals” definition, adding a list of symptoms for which a pet owner must provide veterinary or medical care.

The meeting is set for Thursday, September 22 at 5:30pm, at the Department of Public Works building.
