City Commission To Vote On Buying Land Surrounding MSP Post
At their meeting Tuesday night, the Battle Creek City Commission will be considering a resolution that would purchase land around the abandoned Michigan State Police Post on Columbia Ave.
The City of Battle Creek currently owns the old MSP building at 610 W. Columbia, but potential buyers of the building have expressed interest in the parking area surrounding the building as well. The resolution on the Commission’s agenda would purchase that surrounding land from the State of Michigan for $35,000, if it is passed.
The Battle Creek police post closed down in 2011, as a part of a Michigan State Police restructuring plan; The MSP in the region has since shifted operations to the Marshall Regional Law Enforcement Center on Old US-27.
