Battle Creek police are investigating a case of counterfeit money. Earlier this week, a $100 bill was used at the Meijer store located on West Columbia Ave. It was discovered to be fake.

Police said a customer attempted to use the money to make a purchase on Monday afternoon but managers at the store noticed something wasn’t right with the $100 bill. Battle Creek authorities have said that they don't believe the person who tried to use it realized it was fake. There is no indication at this time that it was anything other than a singular incident, however stores in the Battle Creek area should continue to be vigilant in checking $100 bills, as well as other denominations of cash, to make sure anyone making a purchase is using real cash.

The investigation into the counterfeit bill is continuing. There is no other information available at this time.
