On September 14th, 1997, Mark Davies and his wife Janet, who were from Howell, Ml, were getting ready to take their plane for a flight home. Sadly, the plane never landed at an airport. The plane was reported missing and according to the National Transportation Safety Board, the plane was presumed destroyed and the pilot and passenger are also presumed to have sustained fatal injuries, as local 4 Detroit reports. Back when the incident originally happened, a search party was unable to find the plane or missing persons.

It now looks like authorities have discovered the wreckage site of the Piper PA-28-235, N9399W plane near near St. Ignace, Mich. The plane was seen taking off from Drummond Island, Michigan, with the intention of landing in the Davies' hometown of Howell. Since that date, both pilot and passenger, along with the plane have been missing. The N.T.S.B is continuing to investigate the crash site they have found to determine if it is indeed the missing plane from 1997.
