East Grand Rapids High School Evacuated Due to Bomb Threat
East Grand Rapids High School has been evacuated this morning due to a bomb threat. School officials say public safety officers and the Grand Rapids Police Department are on site searching the building with bomb dogs.
EGR Public Schools made an announcement on Facebook.
Just before 8:00 a.m., school officials said:
For the safety and security of our students, we have evacuated the high school. We have sent out robocalls, texts, and emails via our AIert system as well. The students have been instructed to report home and we will update you as soon as we have more information.
All other buildings will continue as usual.
At 8:22 a.m., the school district provided this update:
EGRHS received a bomb threat which is the reason for the evacuation. Public Safety and Grand Rapids Police Department are on site searching the building with K9.
At 8:30 a.m., this update was provided:
EGRHS is canceled for today. There were no threats to any other building; therefore, school is in session for K-8.
