In March 2016, Governor Rick Snyder stepped up to fill a vacancy at the 10th District Court in Calhoun County. It was a necessary step, after Judge John Hallacy was appointed to a judgeship in the Calhoun County Circuit Court.

Snyder chose from a small list of candidates Paul Beardslee of Marshall, who assumed the position of 10th District judge immediately. Now, Beardslee has nearly completed the balance of the term and would like the voters to return him to the 10th District bench.

Meanwhile, Beardslee faces a challenge from attorney Jim Lance of Battle Creek.
