We had to mention it on Friday’s WBCK Morning Show:  It’s a “Festivus for the Rest of Us!”  December 23rd marks the made-up-turned-real holiday that started with a 1997 episode of Seinfeld.

There’s a Festivus! Website that gives you all the details.

The Web Site says:

The usual holiday tradition of a tree is manifested in an unadorned aluminum pole, which is in direct contrast to normal holiday materialism. Those attending Festivus may also participate in the "Airing of Grievances" which is an opportunity to tell others how they have disappointed you in the past year, followed by a Festivus dinner, and then completed by the "Feats of Strength" where the head of the household must be pinned.

Meatloaf is the food of choice for dinner, and listener Reggie Dickson sent us in his recipe:

Meat Loaf

3 lbs. 90% fat free Ground beef

2 eggs and an equal amount of Egg beaters

2 slices of toasted crunchy Oat bread (Use toaster to get bread crunchy and cut into ½ inch peices

¼ cup Italian Bread crumbs

½ cup Diced pimentos

2 TBLS Vidalia Onion Steak Sauce

1 Cup Cottage Cheese

1 14oz can diced tomatoes

2 TBLS of Parmesan Cheese

1 TBLS Italian seasoning

2 tsp Salt

2 TBLS of Worchester Seasoning

½ tsp of Rosemary

1 tsp of dill

½ tsp of Garlic

1 tsp tarragon

1TBLS Parsley

1 Cup of Tomato Basin Sauce

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.  If some like spicy food and some do not, separate into two equal portions and add two TBLS diced Jalapeno to one portion. Haberno or tabasco may be substituted. Accent top with Tomato Ketchup. This may be cooked in one larger portion or three or four smaller containers.  Cook for 1 hour and 375 Degrees.
