A Jackson man was sent to the hospital after a fiery two-vehicle crash on a main Battle Creek thoroughfare Monday evening.

Around 6pm Monday, authorities say that a pickup, driven by the 19-year-old Jackson man, made a left turn out of a business on West Columbia near 28th street.  As he was pulling out, the truck was hit by a car driven by a 35-year-old Battle Creek woman.

The truck was sent into the curb and caught fire, however bystanders pulled the man from his truck before the flames reached him.

The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and will be cited for failure to yield.  The woman driver was uninjured.
