First Responders Pay Tribute to Fallen Comstock Fire Chief

In a procession that stretched from its starting point on 9th Street west of Kalamazoo and ended east of town at Wings Event Center, fire trucks moved slowly toward a funeral for Comstock Fire Chief Ed Switalski.

Switalski was killed while responding to a crash on I-94 near Sprinkle Road when a motorist went around a parked fire rig with lights flashing - meant to warn passing motorists to move over and slow down. The driver of the car that struck Switalski went around the rig and hit the fire chief on the night of June 14, 2017.
