Battle Creek Police Chief Jim Blocker reminds residents that the police department offers free gun locks in an ongoing effort to promote gun safety in the community.

A recent incident in which a child found a gun and injured himself when it discharged has prompted the reminder from the chief.

As well, local businessman Joel Fulton of Freedom Firearms reminds folks education is key when it comes to gun safety. Fulton tells WBCK about some examples of programs meant to educate individuals about safety around firearms.
