A Kalamazoo County Boy Scout troop is receiving more community support after their camping gear was stolen last month.

MLive reports that the Consumers Energy Foundation has awarded to one of Galesburg Scout Troop 265’s leaders a $1,000 grant. Kevin Linders, who has volunteered with the troop for 7 years, is a Consumers employee.

The Consumers Energy Foundation, according to their website, awards grants for education, social services, the environment and other things.

The Boy Scout troop faced hardship in January, when a trailer filled with $10,000 worth of camping equipment was stolen from the Scoutmaster’s yard. The trailer was eventually recovered, but the gear inside was missing.

Since then there has been an outpouring of community support, including monetary and camping gear donations.
