Gas prices are getting closer to dipping below the $2.00 mark again, but it is happening outside of the Battle Creek area.

Gasbuddy.com is reporting that regular unleaded fuel across Michigan is at $2.22 a gallon, just a penny more than the national average. Gas in the Cereal City is averaging $2.09 a gallon.

Last year, Michigan drivers were paying much more than this time, as regular unleaded fuel sat at $2.83 a gallon. Nationally, drivers were seeing $2.76 at the pump.

The lowest gas price in the area that does not involve club gas stations is in Richland, where it sits at $2.01 a gallon.
