This week, gas prices have been declining. Happy Independence Day!

Wait a minute. A summer holiday weekend? And gas prices are coming down? Maybe the oil companies are playing a trick on us. Maybe they'll go back up as soon as we get ready to hit the road Friday.

Gregg Laskoski of GasBuddy.com tells WBCK that's likely NOT true.

"It's been a very strange year," he said, regarding the prices at the pump. "It looks like the peak for gasoline prices may already be behind us" for this year, Laskoski said.

He attributes it largely to a greater supply on hand, mostly due to fracking.

Hear Laskoski's thoughts on how Michigan's gas price changes are unique and how higher MPG ratings for cars are changing the oil industry.
