If you are getting ready for Memorial Day weekend travel, you should also get ready to pay more at the pump. In fact, the price hike is already underway. They began spiking late Tuesday morning around Michigan. If you hurry, you might be able to fill up before all of the stations jump to the highest gas prices since late 2014.

According to gasbuddy.com, most stations in the Battle Creek area were at the $2.79 to $2.93 range as of 11:00am Tuesday. In Kalamazoo, the range was around $2.88 to $2.95.

But in Battle Creek, we had a report that the Speedway on Columbia Rd. near Lavista has jumped to $3.19 a gallon. And GasBuddy says that the Speedway at 2375 Sprinkle Rd. is also at $3.19 now.

According to AAA, the national average price for a gallon of regular gas stood at $2.92, before this hike. The national average has risen by nearly 60 cents over the last year, and five cents in the last week. We are still quite away from the 2008 peak of $4.11, but it’s still costing much more per day to drive than it did a year ago. Better fill up soon!
