Girls Must Register for the Military?
Yesterday at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on Tuesday top officers in the Army and Marine Corps testified that girls should now be required to register for a potential military draft when they turn 18, just like the the boys do.
Sound like a good idea to you?
If woman are now allowed to serve in combat roles should they not now have to register for a potential draft?
It is reported in the Washington Times that General Neller from the Marine Corps stated the following:
“It’s my personal view that based on this lifting of restrictions … that every American who’s physically qualified should register for the draft."
Gen. Milley from the Army was quoted in the article stating:
“all eligible and qualified men and women should register for the draft.”
The Supreme Court decided in 1981 that the decision of Congress to exempt women from registering for selective service because women were barred from combat, was upheld. Justice William Rehnquist wrote in that decision that “The existence of combat restrictions clearly indicates the basis for Congress’ decision to exempt women from registration."
Is it time to make it a law all that women should now have to register?
If woman want the right to serve in any role that men serve in the military then it is time for girls to start registering for a possible draft.
