GoFundMe Page Started For Fallen Wayne State Officer Collin Rose
A GoFundMe page has been started, in order to help pay for funeral expenses for the Wayne State University Police Officer who was shot in the head Tuesday night.
29-year-old Collin Rose, a 5-year veteran of the Wayne State University Police and native of Richland, was shot Tuesday while on patrol near Wayne State's campus. The Associated Press reports that Officer Rose was investigating the theft of items from cars, when he said over radio that he was going to speak with a man on a bicycle.
Rose was found with a gunshot wound to the head, and was taken to a hospital in Detroit, in critical condition. He later died from his injuries, Wednesday evening.
A suspect is in custody, with charges expected to be brought down Friday.
The GoFundMe campaign was started by Brent Steinacker, a Wayne State student, to raise money for Officer Rose's funeral and memorial. The funds will be transferred to Rose's fiancee, Nicole Salgot, at the end of the campaign. So far, $23,000 has been raised towards the $30,000 goal.
