A Grand Rapids man is in critical condition after an explosion at a marijuana grow site started a fire Wednesday.

Fire crews and police responded to a home on SE Sigsbee St. around 12:30am Wednesday, finding that the grow operation had exploded somehow and set the home ablaze.

A 37-year-old man suffered severe burns in the incident and was transferred to the hospital in critical condition.  A 29-year-old man was treated for light burns and released, while two others, a 29-year-old woman and 6-year-old boy, were not injured.

The legality of the grow is still being investigated.  A large scale fish tank was also found in the home, so now authorities are investigating the “fish farm” as well.
