In some big cities, like Chicago, officials actually recommend parents check the local sex offender registry before taking their kids trick-or-treating on Halloween.

Various media reports show the reporting this year in Chicago and other locations where parents may wish to check the registry - then steer clear of registered sex offenders on Halloween night - on the recommendation of the state's attorney general.

In case you have never checked, the sex offender registry in Michigan provides name, address and other pertinent information about a person on the list, even including a photo in some cases.
