HS Basketball – Bearcats Pound Spartans, End Three-Game Slide

Weather has won the past few nights of High School Basketball. Even with cold temperatures, one team got hot at the right moment Friday night.

In our High School Basketball Game of the Night from the Battle Creek Central Field House, the hosting Bearcats looked for revenge against their cross-town rivals in the Lakeview Spartans. It was the second meeting this season between the two Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference East Division foes. The Spartans took the opener 46-43, ending a 20+ game losing skid to Central over the past decade.

It was a completely different story at Chuck Turner Court, where the Bearcats put together their best scoring night on the season in a 73-51 victory, ending a three-game skid. Senior guard Joshua Mann scored 21 points to lead Central. Senior forward Keondre Glass scored 14 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter.

Junior guard Tommy Moore led Lakeview with 21 points, with junior Harrison Jewell chipping in 11 in the loss. After a four-game winning streak, the Spartans have now dropped their last two, both on consecutive Friday nights on the road.
