The midway point of the Michigan High School Athletic Association's football season has arrived. For some of the area teams, Week 5 is the determining point in the schedule that can create momentum into the final stretch of the season.

Two city schools that look for that momentum are the Pennfield Panthers and the Harper Creek Beavers. Both teams have been reeling since their Week 1 wins, and are vying for their first Interstate 8 win on the season. They square off against each other with a chance for new life for the remainder of the season.

Several area teams are playing earlier this week due to the Eastern equine encephalitis outbreak in the state. Check out the preview of tonight's contest and the complete schedule for the weekend with changed game times for those affected. Three undefeated teams also look to stay that way this week - the Lakeview Spartans, Olivet Eagles, and the Climax-Scotts Panthers. Climax-Scotts has a tough battle with Colon in a battle of state-ranked squads in the 8-Man ranks.
