A man was arrested Tuesday morning after he allegedly crashed his car into a power pole, causing some to lose power in Kalamazoo County.

WWMT reports that Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Officers were called to the area of Portage Rd. and Stockbridge around 3am Tuesday, and arrived to find a power pole that had been knocked down, sending live power lines into the roadway. The road had to be shut down for around an hour so crews could remove the blockage.

The car that was believed to have crashed into the pole had left the scene, but was tracked down a short distance away. The 22-year-old driver from Kalamazoo was arrested without incident, on a charge of operating while impaired.

Power was out for a short while, with just over 100 people remaining without power by 9am Tuesday, according to Consumers Energy's Outage Map.
