Money is one of the most important things to our lives as everything we do cost money from the home we live in and the clothes we wear to the water we drink and the food we eat. Some people have devoted their lives to making the most amount of money possible and this has given them fame while also giving their family security. Although money is so important, just like anything else in the world, money changes.

In the last 30 years, the way we handle money has completely changed. Over this time span credit cards, debit cards, prepaid cards, and mobile payment have taken over the industry that cash once ruled. People have started to carry little to no cash at all as they are able to have all of their funds available through their cards or better yet, electronics. As mobile banking and other online money moves are made, cash becomes less important but what people didn't take into account with mobile money, is technology.

If there's one thing we can count on, it's knowing that something will go wrong when using technology. Since technology has been used more often with banking, apps like Apple pay, Google pay, Cashapp, Venmo, PayPal, and others have become more popular. With online banking and other internet-based money platforms, it was only a matter of time before technology caused some major issues.

We have seen plenty of small issues like consumers not being able to access funds, fraud charges/locks, and even data breaches. Some of these may seem like larger issues than they are and that's because in today's world there isn't much you can do without money. The two most common concerns and issues that take place are fraud charges and data breaches, both of which could lead to someone losing lots of money.

Cashapp, is online money app that has taken the country by storm as millions of Americans are using the app to accept, send, invest, and store money. Cashapp has partnerships with many businesses where you earn rewards or discounts for using your account as a patron.

Although Cashapp has become popular, there have been plenty of roadblocks along the way. Over the last couple of years, they have had trouble with scams, data breaches, and accounts being hacked and drained for their contents. Cashapp has been able to rectify the issues quickly and replace stolen funds but that doesn't mean the problems will stop.

Cashapp just agreed to settlement in California that could mean extra money for users that were affected by a few data breaches from a couple years ago. One breach occurred in 2022 and the next in 2023 when a former employee accessed account data without permission and an unauthorized user accessed accounts using recycled phone numbers.

Cashapp users who have had accounts between Aug. 23, 2018 – Aug. 20, 2024 could receive compensation if their information was accessed without permission, or if they had unauthorized, fraudulent withdrawals, or transfers of funds to or from their account. Claimants can request for compensation for out-of-pocket losses, time lost, and transaction losses. They will pay up to $2,500 for out-of-pocket losses and could have as much as $250 returned for time lost.

If you're a Cashapp User in Michigan and have had an account between the above time period, I would be looking to put in a claim and see if you're going to receive some money or not!
