Longtime Kalamazoo Sports Bar Wayside West Host Auction
Western Michigan University students have always had plenty of options to choose from if they wanted to get an adult beverage, watch a game, or meet new people, one of them which was slightly off campus was Wayside West. A local sports bar that was full of TVs, classic arcade games, and autographed sports memorabilia kept people coming back for the vibe.
Almost 8 years ago in 2015, they served their last customer and the doors have been closed ever since. When recreational marijuana was legalized in Michigan, Lume Cannabis took over one side of the building and it almost solidified that Wayside West wouldn't be returning. Now, we are certain they aren't returning as they have announced an auction for merchandise currently inhabiting the inside space.
The auction will be exclusively online on Tuesday, April 18th from 8 am to 6 pm at Orbitbid.com. There will be an open house for interested parties to see the items on Monday, April 17th from 8 am to 5 pm and again on Tuesday. All purchased items must be removed by Friday, April 21st.
I know there are people in the Kalamazoo area who were frequent visitors of Wayside West and just like any other place there are regulars who sit in the same spot and order the same things all the time, well with this auction you may be able to take that spot home with you and have that memory forever.
The auction will be bar stools, vintage arcade games, patio furniture, pool tables, and even commercial restaurant equipment are a few of the things that will be available. They also still have jerseys from Western Michigan University, Detroit Tigers, and Detroit Red Wings framed and hanging on the walls that will be up for grabs as well.
