Michigan DoorDash Driver Victim Of Armed Robbery

In the last 10 years or so, DoorDash has taken over the food industry as this has not only provided employment opportunities for hundreds of thousands of people, but also gives people the luxury and convenience of ordering food delivery for a decent price. I honestly think DoorDash and other delivery services are what saved us during the global pandemic.

It has been increasingly difficult to find employment since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic which has pushed a lot of working people into desperate measures and side work. One of the industries that has continued to grow is the delivery service industry as there will always be people needed to deliver goods to people, but is the money worth the job?

At first glance, as long as you are making enough money to support yourself and put gas in your car than you should be making enough but when you take a closer look, this may not be the case. A lot of delivery drivers are placed in dangerous situations, and they don't always get to make it home safely, which I don't think they are accurately compensated for.

On Saturday November 4th, a delivery driver in Springfield, Michigan had a dangerous encounter that could've ended so much worse. A DoorDash driver arrived at their destination for a delivery when thinks turned south. They were approached by 3 young men between the ages of 18-25.

All three of the men were dressed in dark colored clothing with ski masks over their faces and there is mention of them using a gun during the robbery. There is no information at the moment of the number of guns used but they did take the drivers wallet (and probably food) before driving off in a white SUV.

Delivery service drivers all over the state should continue to monitor their surroundings and should think about some self-defense items or classes to keep themselves safe while they are trying to make a living.
