Could Michigan’s First Snowfall Come In October?
As Michigan residents we know that the weather can drastically change at any moment. Often times our seasons run together, or we have random weather shifts during times of the year. So, fall is the time of year that many people feel doesn't last long because the fall colors and hoodie weather are only around for a few weeks before the dreaded snow makes it appearance.
Every year when fall rolls around everyone begins to prepare for the pumpkin spice lattes, apple orchard visits, and other fall activities while I'm looking at the calendar wondering when everything is going to turn white. If you're anything like me, then you aren't looking forward to the winter wonderland that is sure to visit the Mitten state. The question is, will that snow be falling during the month of October or will we be lucky enough to make it to December or later with no snow?
Although the first day of fall is September 21st, the weather, looks, and vibes of fall don't really show up until October. This is where we see all the leaves change colors, trees become bare, and pumpkins pop up everywhere. as we're all enjoying football, sweater weather, and scenic walks in the fall, winter is quietly looming in the shadows.
Michigan residents can tell you that one of the most exciting times of the year is the Halloween season as the apple orchards, pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and more are jam-packed, and everyone is buying costumes and candy in preparation for the big day. Another thing we always remember to have is a winter coat.
The winter coat is important because we have seen time and time again, that we are susceptible to snowfall on Halloween night. This year, the Farmer's Almanac says that Michigan should have a relatively frigid, cold, and wet winter that isn't very white. First snowfall for Michigan is supposed to be in November and we're supposed to have a green Christmas as well.
