We write a lot about the strange things you'll definitely see, and MIGHT see in the Great Lakes. Of course, everyone's heard about the possible sharks in Lake Michigan, but no video confirmation has been released for them. And there's any number of accounts of "large mythical beasts" in them as well.

but this might be the first time a creature that SHOULDN'T be in the Great Lakes, has officially been caught on video, and this time, it's an Alligator in Lake Erie!

It's odd that there seems to be more alligators in Michigan, than there are Wolverines in the Wolverine state, but it's true. We've explored a number of times when Alligators have been found in the wild, and in people's homes around the state.

Just recently, a home in the Detroit area was found to have a dog an an alligator living in it after not being fed for several weeks following their owner's death.

There have also been sightings in area inland lakes as well, including one allegedly spotted in Kent Lake earlier this year.

But now, there is absolute, definitive evidence that an Alligator is currently in Lake Erie. Take a watch in the TikTok Below.

@authorawilson We've just learned that an alligator was spotted in Lake Erie near the East Avenue boat launch in Erie, Pennsylvania on Sunday. Everyone in the area is being advised to stay out of the lake until further notice. No, this is not a joke. Officials believe the gator was owned as a pet and was released by its owner. We'll have more on this story at a later time. #alligator #foryou #eriecounty #foryoupage #sighting #water #lake #share #viral ♬ Spooky, quiet, scary atmosphere piano songs - Skittlegirl Sound

Yep, that is BONAFIDE, REAL, AUTHENTIC video of a four-foot alligator floating in Lake Erie, PROVING this time, that alligators are here for real.

How did it get there? Well, that's a great question. The most likely answer is, someone unfortunately got it as a pet, and when it became too much to handle, the let it go in the Lake, or near Lake Erie.

Regardless, it sounds like officials are attempting to find it, capture it, and will likely take it to the Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary, along with the rest of Michigan's misfit gators.
