Dan Campbell’s Applebee’s Commercial is Proof the Lions are Poised for Greatness
Dan Campbell has been an incredible burst of positive energy, hard work, and life for the Detroit Lions. For decades there's been hopes that they would break out of the "Same Old Lions" rut, but until two years ago, that still seemed like an impossibility.
But, then came Dan Campbell, and his awkward "biting kneecaps" press conference. Right then and there, we should have known we were finally destined for greatness. But if you still need further proof, look no further than his latest venture - Commercials.
In a recent ad campaign with Applebee's, that focuses on their $0.50 boneless wings, Campbell shows off not only his acting prowess, but also his preparedness for this upcoming season in the NFL. Of course, he's not donned in his team's Honolulu Blue and Silver colors, but he is wearing his own personal favorite color - Black. In fact, it was Campbell who convinced the Fords to bring BACK the black uniforms this season, which he wore when he was on the team in the early 2000s.
But in the commercial, Campbell is seen walking up to a couple at their table, ready to order, and presents the special, while hiding his face behind the order book. Of course, Campbell is one of many coaches known for this during the football season. Hiding your face from cameras keeps members of the other team from reading your lips as to what play you might be calling.
But there's something about how Campbell executes this maneuver while wearing an Applebee's "uniform" that only he could properly pull off, with that almost sarcastic seriousness.
Bravo! BRAVISIMA!!!
Not only is Campbell showing he's locked in with his blossoming acting career, but he's locked into football form as well. And if you needed any further proof that Campbell's commercial and football careers are so heavily intertwined, I give you his ACTUAL acting debut from before the 2003 NFL season when he was in Dallas.
That season, the Cowboys had their FIRST winning record since 1998, and it was all thanks to Dan Campbell's commercial to sell season tickets... I'm sure of it.
