WARNING: Michigan and Illinois May Have To Be On Guard For A Tornado Friday
When your local weather man is concerned about a tornado possibly forming at the tail end of winter, it might be a good time to pay attention, especially since hundreds of people who work for NOAA and the NWS have been laid off.
A strange weather pattern is forming, which has put Illinois at a very high risk of possibly seeing a tornado and most likely some strong storms for most of the state on Friday, March 14th, which WWMT said should give Michigan cause for alert.

Recently, WWMT Keith Thompson put out a Facebook post that shows the areas that may be most affected by this storm pattern:
GUARD UP! A severe weather threat is looming just to our southwest, late Friday through early Saturday. NOAA NWS Storm Prediction Center places much of Illinois at "enhanced risk" (level 3 of 5) for severe storms with damaging wind and tornadoes possible. Our storm risk is much lower (general to marginal), but the threat is close enough to be on guard. Collin Rogers WWMT updates LIVE at 10 and 11
Has There Ever Been A Tornado In Michigan In March?
According to this chart, which measures all reported tornados in the state, 47 tornados have been reported in March, with the latest being in 2012. Between all the Southwest Michigan counties, there have only been a few reported tornadoes in March, so the likelihood we will get any in the near future is highly improbable.
That being said, with the recent layoffs with NOAA and the NWS, it's crucial we keep an eye on our local meteorologists as they will continue to do the best they can to keep us safe and informed.
