Michigan Is Getting A New Aldi Location That’s Bigger & Better Than Before
There are so many different options when it comes to grocery stores, that people will go to certain locations to get certain items. One of the most popular of these options over the past decade has become Aldi, which has 109 locations throughout Michigan and is about to add its 110th location at the former location of the Earth Fare in Portage, which closed down in 2020, as we originally reported.
In a press release, the company pointed out they had gone through significant struggles during the pandemic, which did not help their growth:
...continued challenges in the retail industry impeded the company’s progress as well as its ability to refinance its debt. As a result, Earth Fare is not in a financial position to continue to operate on a go forward basis. As such, we have made the difficult, but necessary decision to commence inventory liquidation sales while we continue to engage in a process to find potential suitors for our stores.
The New Aldi Will Be Bigger & Better
Since being vacant these past few years, Aldi has swooped in and announced that they'll be opening a new location, which will be MUCH bigger than their other locations at the former spot of Earth Fare, located at 5070 S Westnedge Ave, Portage, MI 49002.
Will The Other Location Be Closing?
As of now, the current Aldi located at 6291 S Westnedge Ave will remain open, but with the announcement of the new location, one person in the comment section allegedly had insider information that they could eventually re-locate:
I was told [the new location is] additional and then in a few years when the lease expires by Hobby Lobby, they will move further south with that one.
