The Sign for The Palace of Auburn Hills Is Up For Sale

When you are driving along the highway, there are certain landmarks that will always stick out to you. For the west side of Michigan, maybe it’s when you’re traveling along I-94 and you’re coming upon the Sprinkle Road exit and the Wings Event Center sign welcomes you to the exit, giving you a look at what is in store for the upcoming months at the iconic building.

For much of the people who grew up on the east side of the state, like myself, one landmark was the sign to signal you were getting close to the Palace of Auburn Hills. This palace was a very unique venue, that it hosted everything from professional wrestling, to monster trucks, and even some of the biggest rock concerts like Santana and The Who.

However, it’s mainly known for being home to the back-to-back world champion Detroit Pistons, going back to the late 80s early 90s during the "Bad Boys" era. It’s a shame that only a few years before the palace of Auburn Hills was torn down that millions of dollars were put into refurbishing and renewing it.

The arena was barely 30 years old before it was destroyed, but that sign while traveling along I-75 was always iconic, and now someone has a chance to own this historic sign. The top portion of the digital screen that once sat along, I-75 is up for sale on Facebook marketplace for $7500.

Seems like a lot of money for only the top portion, not including the digital screen, but for someone who’s a diehard Detroit Pistons fan or has the money to blow on Michigan nostalgia, this is a must have item.
