Rochester Hills And Troy Named Top Small Cities In The U.S.
When you go to the east side of the state, there are a lot of different cities that are home to many great neighborhoods. It turns out that my childhood home of Rochester Hills and its neighboring city of Troy were recently named one of the best small cities to enjoy an amazing quality of life in. How wild is that? Neighboring cities landed side by side on this list?
These rankings came from U.S. News & World Report, which came up with the 15 best small cities to live in in the country, after ranking 859 US cities with a population below 100,000:

Rochester Hills Named #4 In The Country
Rochester Hills made the list on according to a Detroit house flipper and resident, Hunter Schattler:
It’s a great town to live in. The quality of life is amazing. It has beautiful parks and community events. The education is top-tier even for the public schools. The community is strong and hosts a lot of events throughout the year. It’s very safe to raise a family and has a very low crime rate.
I guess it also helped Rochester Hills' case in the fact that it also ranked in the top 2% for environmental risk, for its low chance of extreme weather events.

But it wasn’t just Rochester Hills, but also its neighboring city. Troy, Michigan, which is connected to Rochester Hills, made the list just below that, coming in at number five, as Yahoo pointed out.
With a high median income of $118,274 here, residents can well afford the median list price, which is far below the national median. Home to several auto suppliers, manufacturers, and health care corporations, this Detroit suburb sits in the top 20% of cities for job market strength.
