The gallery below shows what you might have missed overnight...the Aurora Borealis.

Northern geomagnetic storms produced the Northern Lights beginning late Sunday night.

Aside from these beautiful lights, what else do they affect? According to the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Association, “possible widespread power systems may experience voltage alarms, spacecraft may exhibit orbit changes and tracking problems, and radio frequencies may be disrupted.”

These colorful, dancing lights were seen in the upper part of the Northern Hemisphere, including Michigan, all of Canada, Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Dakotas, Idaho, Montana, Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Iowa, Illinois, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont, Maine and Nova Scotia.

Between 10pm and 2am were the best times to see the lights, but the photos in the gallery below were from 6am this morning...so if you lived in an area that wasn't cloudy, you were in for quite a show. Take a look!
