One of the latest efforts the Kalamazoo Strong organization has undertaken - a book drive for the library at Calhoun Community High School - ends Friday. The drive is coordinated with a planned dedication of the library in the name of Mary Jo Nye, the former CCHS teacher who was lost in the Kalamazoo County shootings on February 20.

Kalamazoo Strong Business and Finance Manager Rachel Kaiser tells WBCK, in Battle Creek, books are being collected at Sweetwaters Donut Mill on Capital and Beckley, as well as the donut shop's Kalamazoo locations. Books in good condition and which are appropriate for high school aged readers are encouraged.

Kaiser also discussed the organization's history, having been born out of an interest in helping after the February 20 shootings. Hear her discuss that and their other programs by clicking the player below.

Hear The Richard Piet Show weekday mornings from 5:30-9 on WBCK.
