Those auditioning should prepare a classical song in any language that best demonstrates vocal and dramatic abilities. It's also recommended they bring their own accompanist; if a KCC accompanist is needed, email audition materials to Cynthia Garn at cynleegarn8@gmail.com on or before Aug. 23.

Rehearsals for "Hansel and Gretel" will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, Sept. 5 through Dec. 13, with an occasional weekend as needed. The show will run Dec. 13 and 14.

"Hansel and Gretel," by Englebert Humperdinck, is based on the classic Grimm fairytale and premiered in Weimar, Germany, in 1893. It tells the three-act story of two children sent into a forest on an errand where they encounter a house made of gingerbread and candy. Soon they find themselves trapped by a witch and trying to avoid being cooked and eaten.
