Kent County Now Has Two Measles Exposure Sites

If you or your children have not be vaccinated for measles, you better do so since two cases of the virus has been detected in Kent County, Michigan.

According to WZZM, Michigan has already found 42 cases of measles but those are mostly in Oakland County and the Detroit area. Kent County now has two cases of measles.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says a person with measles was recently at the Baymont by Wyndham at Grand Rapids Airport April 12 between the hours of midnight and 3 a.m. That person then went to the Urgent Care facility on Plainfield from 1 to 6 p.m.

The outbreak started in the middle of March with 39 cases being found in Oakland County alone. There was another case in Detroit and another that was found in Wayne County.

The age of the people found with measles so far has ranged from 8 months old to 63 years old but most cases have been adults.

The MDHHS is working with all local health departments but you should contact your healthcare provider about get vaccinated if anyone in your family has not been vaccinated previously.

If you have anyone in your family that develops symptoms make sure and keep others away and alert your healthcare provider.
