Law Enforcement Dementia Training
A Miles for Memories program is expected to provide specialized training to local law enforcement officers so they may better handle calls involving those with Dementia.
The training is also expected to incorporate how to use Senior ID technology expected to be released this year, part of the Help Home Program. The program is centered around an electronic Fit Bit-like device that encourages activity and movement, but also acts as a device that helps to locate someone who may be lost. The program would operate on a volunteer basis.
A $100,000 grant is making the program possible.
'It was awarded by the Michigan Health Endowment Fund through the Battle Creek Community Foundation specifically for Miles for Memories technology programs for persons living with dementia and their caregivers," according to an email from Miles for Memories volunteer Sherii Sherban.
