The Michigan-based Pokagon Band of the Potawatomi Nation has worked with linguists and developers to create a free course to promote their critically endangered Potawatomi language.

The course is part of Mango Languages' free Indigenous and Endangered Languages offerings. The first lessons became available in November with more to come in the following months.

Hartford High School and Southwestern Michigan College will use Mango to learn the Potawatomi language and help with lesson planning, student engagement and proficiency.

The new online and app resources are just the beginning of the options for those interested in learning the Potawatomi language. Other resources available include books, DVDs, weekly classes and more.
