A man has died after authorities say his boat flipped on a private lake in Calhoun County.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputies and Michigan State Police Troopers were called to the scene just before 4pm Monday, after reports of an accident on Sonoma Lake in Leroy Township, south of Battle Creek.

The Calhoun County Underwater Recovery Team found a sunken boat, and recovered 89-year-old Theron Stults from the lake.  Stults was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses say that the victim had been fishing at the time, but it’s not known what caused the accident.
