Meet Battle Creek’s Newest City Commissioner Jim Lance
Jim Lance's application to fill a seat on the Battle Creek City Commission was pretty impressive. He's an attorney specializing in many areas that will be beneficial to city government. He's worked on hammering out policy for the Governor's office and for the state judiciary. He campaigned for a judge position in Calhoun County and met a lot of people, including community leaders.
Jim Lance was a recent guest on the 95.3 WBCK Morning Show with Tim Collins.
He was born in Viet Nam, and rescued from the side of the road by a U.S. Soldier who took the abandoned toddler to an orphanage. He was adopted by a Michigan family and grew up a huge Tiger fan.
Lance takes over as Ward 5 commissioner, after Dave Walters resigned. Ward 5 includes Goguac Lake, and fans out to the south and west from there, covering a lot of ground. He says his top priority will be helping to build up local business in the Battle Creek Area. Lance says he likes the progress being made in Battle Creek, and decided to apply for the Ward 5 City Commission seat to be a part of it.
