Melon Salmonella Outbreak Continues To Grow
An update to a recall we first reported on June 10… Those sickened by salmonella linked to pre-cut melon has continued to grow. As of Friday June 22, 70 victims from 7 states have been reported. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says they believe there could still be more cases due to the length of time between someone becoming ill and when the illness is reported.
On June 8, Caito Foods LLC on Friday voluntarily recalled pre-cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and fruit medleys produced at its facility in Indianapolis. Of those sickened, most were from Michigan.
