It’s Almost June, But Michigan Isn’t Listening… Half The State Will See Frost Tonight

I guess you could say this is a surprise, but not a surprise at the same time. Let's face it, this spring has leaned more toward winter than summer so far. We've been moving in the right direction, but it just seems like the cold weather keeps hanging on.

The good news is West Michigan is not expected to see frost tonight, with lows expected in the low 50s in most spots. But our friends to the north and in areas of the Upper Peninsula are preparing for a frosty overnight. According to MLive Meteorologist Mark Torregrossa, a Canadian cold front is to blame.  He says that the frost will only occur at inland areas, and not near the Great Lakes shorelines. Michigan’s fruit crop in those areas shouldn’t be damaged, as temperatures at tree height should stay above freezing.

The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory for 17 counties in northern Michigan and the U.P for the overnight into Friday morning. Those areas could have low temperatures between 32 and 35 degrees. Besides those counties, a cold night is in store for that entire region of the state and some other areas could have a frosty Friday morning too,

The official first day of summer is only about three weeks away. Enough already?
