Michigan Funeral Home Acquires Motorcycle Hearse
One Michigan funeral home is offering a unique way for families to bring their loved one to the cemetery, a custom-built motorcycle hearse.
Simpson Family Funeral Homes has recently added a custom-built motorcycle hearse to its fleet. It is the third such vehicle in Michigan. The hearse was built by Tombstone Hearse & Trike in Tombstone, Arizona.
Simpson Family Funeral Homes has two locations in Montcalm County; one in Stanton and one in Sheridan.
The Tombstone hearse began as a new 2016 motorcycle. It was then disassembled and rebuilt.
"I believe funerals should be about celebrating a person's life and not just mourning their death," said Bill Simpson Jr., owner of Simpson Family Funeral Homes.
Families wanting to use this motorcycle hearse have a couple of options, Simpson explained. "For funerals arranged through my funeral home, there is no rental cost, it's included in every package we offer. For funerals arranged through another funeral home outside my area, the hearse and trike can be rented."
