Michigan Makes It Legal to Warm Up Your Car
Do you remember last year when a Roseville Michigan man was given a $128 ticket for running his car in his driveway unattended?
You did not know that it was illegal to do that?
Well you have no fear any longer of receiving a ticket from your government for warming your car unattended on your property.
As an article from the Detroit Free Press reminds us, last June Governor Snyder signed a bill into law which now allows you to warm up that very cold car unattended in your driveway.
Now obviously it might not be the smartest thing to do if you do not have a remote start, especially in highly populated areas. The question was; did we really need the government to tell us that and on top of that punish us for doing so?
The reason for the previous law was to attempt to stop people from stealing your car while you left it attended with the keys in the automobile. Is it really up to the government to guard you against yourself in situations like this?
By the way, in case you did not know, it is still illegal to leave a vehicle running unattended on a highway.
Also I would like to give you a heads up on another interesting law, it is illegal to be drunk on a train in Michigan. Specifically:
436.201 Drunkenness on train prohibited.
Sec. 1.No person shall while in an offensive state of intoxication enter or be on or remain upon any railway train or interurban car as a passenger.
