Hit the Links at These 3 Portage-Area Mini Golf Courses
I am by no means an avid golfer, but I can throw down on a mean round of mini-golf! Whether you call it putt putt or mini-golf, this is a fun past time all ages and skill sets can enjoy.
Growing up in Allegan I remember the closest mini-golf course was located in Plainwell just off M-89 and was called Putt Putt's, if I recall correctly. That was about our only option when it came to mini-golf despite numerous failed attempts to get a mini-golf course going behind the now-closed Shiver Shack in Allegan, which never took off for some reason.
Now that I'm back in the Kalamazoo area and the weather is warming up, I'm ready for my next mini-golf fix but I wasn't even sure where the nearest course was! Here are three spots I've found where you and the fam can enjoy your next outing in the Portage area.
Airway Fun Center
From bowling, to laser tag, to escape rooms, Airway Fun Center seems to have it all! The perfect party spot for kids and adults alike, you can enjoy a full taproom menu of handcrafted dishes and drinks. The outdoor mini-golf course at Airway is designed to be fun and engaging, "Suited for all ages, they offer you – and your family – a great way to get outside and spend time together." Cost: $8.50 per person, ages 4 and under play free.
Jungle Joe's Family Fun Center
The area's "largest indoor inflatable fun park", Jungle Joe's has bounce houses, arcade games, mini-golf, and more all in one spot. The mini-golf course is located outdoors and has a jungle theme, of course! You and the kiddos will spot elephants, giraffes, and more while you're on your golf course safari. Cost: $8 for ages 6+, $3 ages 5 and under.
Presidential Brewing Company
A mini-golf course located at a brewery?! That's my kind of golf course. What was formerly Lazer Land has been acquired by Presidential Brewing, but don't worry-- the taproom and mini-golf course are open to all ages. You are welcome to play the mini-golf course anytime the taproom is open, which is Wednesdays and Thursdays 3:00-10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday noon to 10:00 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 8:00 p.m. Cost: $2 per game with purchase of food or beer
