A busy Michigan highway will soon be getting more space. The Associated Press reports that for the first time, Michigan will open special lanes on highway median shoulders to ease traffic congestion caused by rush hour or crashes. The new “flex route” will be opened on US 23, between Ann Arbor and Brighton. That particular stretch of roadway is the most heavily congested corridor outside of Detroit. MDOT plans to open the new lanes, this week.
