If you're planning on driving anywhere for the Thanksgiving holiday this year, get ready to share the road because there's going to be A LOT of people on the highways. According to numbers released by AAA, more than 1.7 million Michiganders are expected to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday this year. Also, if you're planning on driving out of state, keep in mind that AAA says more than 55 million travelers will be traveling 50 miles or more away from home this Thanksgiving.

If those numbers sound pretty high, well, it's because they are. AAA says that this year will be the second-highest Thanksgiving travel volume since they started tracking the travel numbers back in 2000. The Thanksgiving holiday travel period is defined as Nov. 22 through Nov. 26.
